L'Oreal Caresse lipstick review

I came across the L'Oreal caresse range in my local Superdrug which displayed the products as though they had always belonged on the L'Oreal display and were not new. I haven't really heard that much about this product except the occasional mention in Marie Claire. The Caresse range didn't have an eye catching display which is something I can always rely on L'Oreal for. I guess more time was spent marketing and promoting the launch of the new Lumi foundation. Which is a shame because I actually quite like the Caresse range even though I currently own 2 of the shades.

The packaging is sleek and sturdy and I love the transparent lids so you can clearly see your shade.

I own 2 shades from a line of 10. The shades I have are, Nude Ingenue (left) and Tempting Lilac (right). They  are also numbered, personally I prefer the names.

The bases are metallic and look nothing like the shades! If the lids were not transparent and there were no testers available you would be pretty disappointed.

The tops of the lipsticks are not tapered, they are more rounded like a typical lip balm. L'Oreal describes the Caresse range as soft light weight colour with a delicate texture that glides onto lips creating a veil of colour with luminous shine. They are definitely light weight and they are moisturising enough that I can just apply straight to my lips without the need for additional lip balm. They do leave your lips with a nice sheen to .

Nude Ingenue is a nude beige colour with a slight golden sheen where applied.

Tempting Lilac is not lilac, but a more light pinky mauve shade with a sheen.

Both these shades go on sheer and are perfect for the day. There are a few darker shades, but again I swatched them in the shop and they seemed a more pigmented but still on the sheer side.

Here they are swatched. Nude Ingenue (left) and Tempting Lilac (right).

I would recommend these lipsticks to people who want a more sheer lip colour which is somewhere between a lipstick and a tinted lip balm. The wear on these lipsticks is not that great and you would need to reapply when you eat or drink. They are priced at £7.99, fairly reasonable I guess. I love the shades I own and have worn them a lot this month already. Like I said earlier, they would be perfect for the daytime and for creating that spring time look teamed with a fresh face and soft pastel eyes.

Thank you for reading!
